Part of Regional Shelter Upgrade Program
The temporary relocation is part of WMATA's Better Bus initiative launched in 2023 through the Bus Stop and Shelter Improvements Program. The replacement shelters will feature enhanced safety features including translucent walls, LED-lit roofs for improved visibility, and designated accessibility areas with ADA-compliant seating. Construction work will generate noise during work hours, officials said. All temporary bus stop areas and construction zones will be clearly marked for safety.
