WMATA Upgrades Bus Stops for Accessibility
WMATA relocates three bus stops on Indian Head Highway for ADA accessibility upgrades
WMATA Moves 3 Bus Stops on Indian Head Highway
Three bus stops along Indian Head Highway will relocate starting September 10 as part of accessibility improvements, transit officials said. The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority confirmed the changes affect routes C11, P93, P94, P95, and P97. The relocations follow completion of ADA-compliant accessibility pads at the new stop locations.

Accessibility Upgrades Drive Stop Changes
The stop relocations are part of WMATA's ongoing efforts to improve accessibility for all riders, according to the transit agency. Federal ADA requirements mandate that transit agencies provide accessible boarding areas at bus stops, including level concrete pads and clear pathways. The improvements ensure riders using wheelchairs and mobility devices can safely board and exit buses. WMATA has been systematically upgrading stops throughout its service area to meet accessibility standards, officials said.
Three Stops Move Short Distances
The northbound bus stop on Livingston Road (Stop ID #3000423) has been moved 285 feet south of its previous location, officials confirmed. The northbound stop on Audrey Lane (Stop ID #3004184) relocated 41 feet south, while the southbound Livingston Road stop (Stop ID #3000411) moved 41 feet north. The relatively short distances mean riders won't need to significantly change their walking routes to reach the stops. All three new stop locations now feature completed ADA accessibility pads.

Changes Remain Through September 2026
The stop relocations take effect September 10, 2025, and will remain in place through September 30, 2026, according to WMATA. The extended timeline suggests the changes may become permanent if they prove successful during the evaluation period. Officials didn't specify whether additional stop modifications are planned for other locations along Indian Head Highway.
Riders Can Track Stop Locations
Riders using the affected routes should look for the new stop locations starting September 10. WMATA encourages customers to sign up for MetroAlerts to receive travel updates about service changes. Moovit provides real-time bus tracking and updated stop locations for all WMATA routes, helping riders find the relocated stops and plan their trips accordingly.
