WMATA Moves 3 Bus Stops on Indian Head Highway

Three bus stops along Indian Head Highway will relocate starting September 10 as part of accessibility improvements, WMATA officials said. The changes affect routes C11, P93, P94, P95, and P97, with stops moving between 41 and 285 feet from their current locations. The relocations follow completion of new ADA-compliant accessibility pads.

ADA Compliance Drives Stop Relocations

The stop relocations are part of WMATA's ongoing efforts to improve accessibility for riders with disabilities, transit officials said. Federal ADA requirements mandate that transit agencies provide accessible boarding areas at bus stops, including level concrete pads that accommodate wheelchairs and mobility devices. WMATA has been systematically upgrading stops throughout its service area to meet these standards. The Indian Head Highway improvements represent the latest phase of this accessibility enhancement program.

Three Stops Moving Short Distances

The northbound stop on Livingston Rd (Stop ID #3000423) will move 285 feet south of its previous location, officials said. The northbound stop on Audrey Ln (Stop ID #3004184) will relocate 41 feet south, while the southbound stop on Livingston Rd (Stop ID #3000411) will shift 41 feet north. All three stops will feature new ADA-compliant boarding pads designed to provide level access for riders using wheelchairs, walkers, and other mobility aids.

Changes Effective Through September 2026

The stop relocations take effect September 10, 2025, and will remain in place through September 30, 2026, according to WMATA. Officials encouraged customers to sign up for MetroAlerts to receive travel updates about the changes. The agency didn't specify whether the relocations will become permanent after the September 2026 date or if additional modifications are planned.

Riders Should Check Stop Locations

Riders who regularly use the affected stops should verify new locations before their trips to avoid missing their buses, transit officials said. The relatively short distances of the relocations mean most riders will find stops within easy walking distance of previous locations. Moovit provides real-time bus tracking and updated stop locations for all WMATA routes, helping riders navigate the changes and plan trips along Indian Head Highway.
