WMATA Relocates Stops for ADA Access
WMATA relocates three bus stops on Indian Head Highway up to 285 feet for ADA upgrades
WMATA Moves 3 Bus Stops on Indian Head Highway
Riders using five bus routes along Indian Head Highway will find their stops in new locations starting September 10. The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority announced the permanent relocations affect routes C11, P93, P94, P95, and P97, with three stops moving between 41 and 285 feet from their current positions. The changes follow completion of ADA accessibility improvements at the locations.

Accessibility Improvements Drive Changes
The relocations are part of WMATA's ongoing efforts to enhance accessibility for all riders, transit officials said. The agency completed Americans with Disabilities Act accessibility pads at the affected locations, requiring the stop repositioning to align with the new infrastructure. The improvements will remain in effect through September 30, 2026. Transit agencies typically undertake such modifications to ensure compliance with federal accessibility standards while improving boarding conditions for passengers with mobility challenges.
Three Stops Moving Short Distances
A northbound stop on Livingston Rd will move 285 feet south, making it the most significant relocation of the three changes. A northbound stop on Audrey Ln will shift 41 feet south, while a southbound stop on Livingston Rd moves 41 feet north. Each relocated stop has been assigned a specific Stop ID number for identification purposes, officials said. The permanent changes are designed to improve passenger boarding conditions at the newly accessible locations.
Changes Take Effect September 10
The relocations take effect September 10, 2025, and will remain in place through September 30, 2026, according to WMATA. Riders should look for the new stop locations when traveling on affected routes starting that date. Customers are encouraged to sign up for MetroAlerts to receive travel updates about these and other service changes, officials said.
What Riders Need to Know
Passengers using routes C11, P93, P94, P95, and P97 along Indian Head Highway should plan their trips accordingly and allow extra time to locate the new stop positions. The relocations represent relatively short distances, but riders unfamiliar with the changes may need to adjust their walking routes to boarding locations. Moovit provides real-time updates and stop location information for WMATA routes to help riders navigate the changes.
