WMATA Relocates Stops for ADA Access Upgrades
Three bus stops on Indian Head Highway relocate Sept. 10 for ADA accessibility upgrades
WMATA Moves 3 Bus Stops on Indian Head Highway
Three bus stops along Indian Head Highway will relocate starting September 10 as part of accessibility improvements, transit officials said. The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority's moving stops on Livingston Road and Audrey Lane to accommodate newly completed ADA accessibility pads. The changes affect routes C11, P93, P94, P95, and P97 and will remain in place through September 30, 2026.

ADA Compliance Drives Stop Relocations
The relocations stem from WMATA's completion of Americans with Disabilities Act accessibility pads at the affected locations, transit officials said. The improvements are part of the agency's ongoing efforts to enhance accessibility for all riders, ensuring compliance with federal accessibility standards. Transit agencies across the country have been upgrading bus stops to meet ADA requirements, which mandate accessible boarding areas with proper surfaces, slopes, and clearances. The permanent changes will improve passenger boarding conditions at these locations.
Stops Move Between 41 and 285 Feet
A northbound stop on Livingston Road will move 285 feet south, while a northbound stop on Audrey Lane will shift 41 feet south, officials said. A southbound stop on Livingston Road will relocate 41 feet north. Each relocated stop has been assigned a specific Stop ID number for identification purposes. The relatively short distances mean riders won't face significantly longer walks to reach their stops, though they'll need to adjust to the new locations when the changes take effect in September.

Changes Take Effect September 10
The stop relocations will take effect September 10, 2025, and remain in place through September 30, 2026, transit officials confirmed. WMATA didn't specify whether the end date represents a temporary measure or if further modifications might follow. Riders Should Plan for New Stop Locations
Riders on routes C11, P93, P94, P95, and P97 should plan their trips accordingly and look for the new stop locations when traveling along Indian Head Highway, officials said. The relocated stops will feature the completed ADA accessibility pads, providing improved boarding conditions for passengers with mobility devices.
