WMATA Moves 3 Bus Stops on Indian Head Highway

Three bus stops along Indian Head Highway will move to new locations starting September 10, transit officials said. The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority's relocating the stops after completing ADA accessibility improvements at each location. The changes affect riders on routes C11, P93, P94, P95, and P97.

ADA Compliance Drives Stop Relocations

The stop relocations follow completion of Americans with Disabilities Act accessibility pads at each location, according to the transit agency. WMATA's been working to ensure all bus stops meet federal accessibility standards, which require level boarding areas and proper clearances for wheelchair users. Officials said the improvements are part of ongoing systemwide efforts to make transit accessible to all riders. The changes will remain in effect through September 30, 2026, though officials haven't said whether the stops will move again after that date.

Stops Move Up to 285 Feet from Original Locations

The northbound stop on Livingston Road, identified as Stop ID #3000423, has moved 285 feet south of its previous location. A second northbound stop on Audrey Lane, Stop ID #3004184, relocated 41 feet south. The southbound stop on Livingston Road, Stop ID #3000411, moved 41 feet north. Officials said the new locations accommodate the ADA pads while maintaining safe access for riders.

Changes Take Effect September 10

The stop relocations take effect September 10, 2025, and will remain in place through September 30, 2026. WMATA didn't specify whether the September 2026 end date indicates temporary relocations or represents a review period. The agency encouraged customers to sign up for MetroAlerts to receive updates about the changes and other service modifications.

Riders Should Check Stop Locations Before Boarding

Riders who regularly use these stops should look for new stop locations starting September 10, as the relocations range from 41 to 285 feet from original positions. Officials said signage will direct passengers to the new stop locations.
