The closure affects routes P30, P31, and P42 nightly from 11pm to 5am due to construction work in the area.
Construction Work Prompts Overnight Service Adjustment
The five-day closure is necessary to accommodate construction activity along Riverdale Road, transit officials said. WMATA typically schedules such closures during overnight hours to minimize disruption to daytime commuters who rely on the affected routes. The P30, P31, and P42 routes serve residential areas in Prince George's County, connecting riders to Metro rail stations and employment centers. Alternative Stop Available One Block Away
Riders should use the stop at Riverdale Rd and 67th Pl (stop ID #3001811) during the closure period, according to WMATA. The alternate stop is located approximately one block from the closed location and serves the same three routes. The agency said all scheduled service will continue to operate on time, with only the stop location changing during the overnight hours. Officials confirmed the closure applies only to westbound service, with eastbound stops remaining open throughout the construction period.
Closure Runs Through Friday Morning
The temporary closure begins at 11pm Monday, May 4, and continues nightly until 5am, ending after the final overnight period on Friday, May 8, transit officials said. Normal service at the Riverdale Rd and 67th Ct stop will resume for daytime hours each day and permanently after 5am Friday. WMATA encourages riders to plan their trips accordingly during the affected overnight hours.
