Two Stops Moving Different Distances
The westbound stop at Alabama Ave SE and 13th St (Stop ID #1003588) will move approximately 280 feet west, across 13th Street near the Whitman-Walker Max Robinson Center, officials said. That temporary relocation runs from May 4, 2026, through May 4, 2028. The eastbound stop at the same intersection (Stop ID #1003320) will permanently relocate approximately 100 feet east toward Bard High School Early College starting May 4, 2026. Both routes C21 and C53 will use the new stop locations.
Changes Take Effect in May 2026
Both relocations begin Monday, May 4, 2026, transit officials confirmed. The westbound stop's temporary move will last until Thursday, May 4, 2028, while the eastbound stop's relocation is permanent with no planned return to the original location. WMATA encourages customers to sign up for MetroAlerts for ongoing service updates, though officials didn't say whether additional advance notice will be provided before the May implementation date.
