WMATA Adds Bus Stop on Indian Head Highway
Riders on two Washington Metro bus routes will have a new place to board starting this fall. WMATA is opening a new northbound bus stop on Salisbury Drive, 41 feet north of Indian Head Highway, on Wednesday, September 10. The stop, designated as Stop ID #3004579, will serve routes C11 and P97 following completion of ADA accessibility pad construction.

ADA Compliance Drives Stop Addition
The new stop is part of WMATA's ongoing efforts to provide accessible public transportation throughout its service area, transit officials said. Federal ADA requirements mandate that transit agencies ensure bus stops are accessible to riders with disabilities, including those using wheelchairs or mobility devices. The completed accessibility pad construction meets these standards, providing a level boarding area for all passengers. WMATA has been systematically upgrading bus stops across its network to comply with accessibility regulations.
Two Routes to Serve New Location
Routes C11 and P97 will both stop at the new location beginning September 10, officials confirmed. The C11 route connects communities in Prince George's County, while the P97 provides service along the Indian Head Highway corridor. Riders can identify the new stop using Stop ID #3004579, which will be displayed on signage at the location. The advisory for this change remains effective through September 30, 2026, giving riders more than a year to familiarize themselves with the new boarding point.

Service Begins Mid-September
The new stop will begin service on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, transit officials said. WMATA didn't specify whether existing stops nearby will remain in service or if schedules will be adjusted to accommodate the new location. The agency encourages customers to sign up for MetroAlerts to receive timely travel updates about this and other service changes.
Enhanced Access for Corridor Riders
The addition enhances accessibility and service options along the Indian Head Highway corridor, particularly for riders with mobility needs who previously may have faced challenges boarding at nearby locations. Customers using routes C11 and P97 should note the new stop location when planning trips. Moovit provides real-time bus arrival information and trip planning for WMATA routes, including updates for the new Stop ID #3004579 location.
