WMATA Adds Bus Stop on Indian Head Highway
Riders on two Prince George's County bus routes will have a new place to board starting this fall. WMATA is opening a new northbound stop on Salisbury Drive, 41 feet north of Indian Head Highway, on Wednesday, September 10, transit officials said. The stop, designated as Stop ID #3004579, will serve routes C11 and P97 following completion of ADA accessibility pad construction.

Accessibility Improvement Expands Service
The new stop is part of WMATA's ongoing efforts to provide accessible public transportation throughout its service area, according to the transit agency. The Americans with Disabilities Act requires transit agencies to ensure bus stops meet accessibility standards, including level boarding pads and clear pathways. WMATA has been systematically upgrading stops across its network to comply with federal accessibility requirements. The Indian Head Highway corridor serves residential and commercial areas in southern Prince George's County, connecting riders to employment centers and Metro rail stations.
Two Routes to Serve New Location
Routes C11 and P97 will both stop at the new location beginning September 10, officials confirmed. The C11 connects riders between Southern Avenue Metro station and Joint Base Andrews, while the P97 provides service along the Indian Head Highway corridor. Riders can identify the new stop using Stop ID #3004579, which will appear on schedules and real-time information systems. The advisory for this change remains effective through September 30, 2026, giving the agency flexibility to adjust service if needed during the implementation period.

Stop Opens Mid-September
The new stop will begin service on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, transit officials said. WMATA didn't specify whether existing stops in the area will remain in service or if this location replaces a nearby stop. The agency encourages customers to sign up for MetroAlerts to receive timely travel updates about service changes and new stop locations.
Riders Gain Accessible Boarding Option
Customers using routes C11 and P97 should take note of the new stop location when planning trips along Indian Head Highway. The ADA-compliant boarding pad ensures riders using wheelchairs or other mobility devices can safely access buses at this location. Moovit provides real-time bus arrival information for WMATA routes, including stop-specific updates for Stop ID #3004579 and other locations along the C11 and P97 corridors.
