V/Line Adds Virtual Tours to Aid Trip Planning
V/Line launches virtual station tours for five regional rail lines to help passengers preview accessibility features
V/Line Adds Virtual Station Tours
V/Line passengers can now explore station accessibility features before they travel using new virtual tours available across Victoria's regional rail network. The tours cover major stations on five lines, transit officials said, allowing riders to preview amenities and plan their journeys more effectively. Officials didn't specify how many individual stations are included in the virtual tour program.

Accessibility Planning Tool
The virtual tours help passengers navigate station layouts and identify accessibility features before arriving, according to the transit agency. V/Line operates regional train and coach services throughout Victoria, connecting rural communities to Melbourne and other major centers. The tours are part of the agency's broader commitment to meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.2 Level AA standards, officials said. Transit agencies increasingly use virtual tours to help passengers with mobility needs plan trips and reduce anxiety about navigating unfamiliar stations.
Five Lines Covered
The virtual station tours are available for stations on the Geelong & Warrnambool, Ballarat, Ararat & Maryborough, Bendigo, Echuca & Swan Hill, Seymour, Shepparton & Albury, and Gippsland & Bairnsdale lines. The tours require a modern web browser to function properly, and Internet Explorer isn't supported, officials said. Passengers can explore station features including platforms, waiting areas, and accessibility amenities through the interactive tours. Officials didn't provide details about whether additional lines will receive virtual tours in the future.

Free Fares Extended
The virtual tours launch as V/Line continues offering free public transport through May 31, 2026, on all train and coach services. Passengers who've already purchased tickets for travel during the free fare period can request refunds through the agency's customer feedback form or at staffed stations. Officials didn't say whether the free fare program might be extended beyond May 2026.
