Singapore Airlines Doubles Gatwick Service to Asia
Singapore Airlines increases Gatwick service from five weekly to daily flights starting March 30
Singapore Airlines Doubles Gatwick Flights in March
Travelers flying between London and Singapore will have more options starting March 30, when Singapore Airlines doubles its service to Gatwick Airport. The carrier's expanding from five weekly flights to daily departures for the Northern Summer 2025 season, which runs through October 26. The move effectively doubles Singapore Airlines' daily connections between Greater London and Singapore when combined with its existing Heathrow schedule, airline officials said.

Route Gains Traction Since 2024 Launch
The Singapore-Gatwick route launched in June 2024 with five weekly services and has quickly attracted both leisure and business travelers. The expansion reflects growing demand for direct connectivity between Europe and Asia, particularly for passengers connecting through Singapore Changi's major transfer hub to destinations in Australia, New Zealand, Southeast Asia, and North Asia. The increased capacity supports more same-day connections from London to cities including Sydney, Melbourne, and key destinations in Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam.
A350-900 Aircraft to Operate Daily Service
Singapore Airlines will operate the daily flights, designated SQ312 and SQ309, using Airbus A350-900 aircraft configured for long-haul service. The schedule provides overnight departures from Singapore with early morning arrivals at Gatwick, and mid-morning return services designed to suit both business and leisure travelers. The airline didn't specify exact departure times or the aircraft's seating configuration for the route.

Gatwick Offers Practical Advantages
London Gatwick's more compact layout compared to Heathrow provides shorter connection times for passengers, with frequent rail services linking to central London in around 30 minutes to Victoria station. The airport's also more accessible by road for travelers from southern and southeastern England, particularly from counties including Sussex, Kent, and Surrey. The expansion's part of Singapore Airlines' broader capacity boost for the peak mid-year period, with increased frequencies also planned to European destinations such as Barcelona, Milan, and Rome.
Expansion Reflects Competitive Dynamics
The service increase positions Gatwick as a growing alternative to Heathrow's congested environment for intercontinental flights, reflecting wider competitive dynamics on Europe-Asia corridors. Passengers traveling between London and Singapore or connecting to destinations across Asia and the Pacific can check schedules and track real-time flight information through Moovit, which provides trip planning for airport connections worldwide.
