Giants Schedule 7 Home Games in Busy Week

San Francisco baseball fans can catch seven Giants home games this week as the team hosts the New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies, transit officials said Thursday. The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency released its weekly advisory covering April 2-8, highlighting the packed schedule that'll bring thousands of fans to the ballpark. The Giants will play four games against the Mets before welcoming the Phillies for three more contests.

Multiple Events Converge on San Francisco

The busy week includes more than just baseball, according to the transit agency. The Warriors will host three basketball games at Chase Center on April 2, 5, and 7, while Downtown First Thursdays takes place April 2 from 5 to 10 p.m. on 2nd Street. An Easter Sunrise Service is scheduled for Mount Davidson Cross on April 5 at 6:30 a.m., with supplemental Muni service on the 36 Teresita route. Special event parking rates of $12 per hour will be in effect near Chase Center during Warriors games.

Construction Projects Add to Traffic Challenges

The Folsom Streetscape Project will have active construction at Folsom and 6th streets from April 2-17, with lane closures and delays expected, officials said. Major construction projects continue on 13th Street, Howard Street, and Geary Boulevard with intermittent lane closures. Caltrans will begin overnight lane closures on the Bay Bridge west span starting April 7 for a paint preservation project. Multiple on-ramp closures to eastbound I-80 are scheduled throughout the week for the Bay Bridge Joint Rehabilitation Project.

Street Closures Begin Thursday

Downtown First Thursdays will require multiple street closures from noon to midnight on April 2, transit officials said. Caltrans work on 19th Avenue, Hospital Curve, and the Central and Bayshore Viaducts will require various closures during the week. A major 55-hour full closure of eastbound I-80 is scheduled from April 17-20, though that falls outside this week's advisory period.

Riders Should Plan for Delays

Transit riders and drivers should expect delays throughout the week due to the combination of sporting events, construction projects, and street closures, officials said. The convergence of multiple events on the same days—particularly April 2, 5, and 7—will likely create heavier-than-usual traffic in several parts of the city.
