SF Bay Area Launches Free Fair Shuttles on BART
BART and Wheels offer free shuttles from Dublin/Pleasanton station to fairgrounds
BART Adds Free Fair Shuttle Service June 13
Bay Area residents can ride free shuttles to the Alameda County Fair starting June 13, transit officials said. BART and Wheels are partnering to provide the service from Dublin/Pleasanton BART station to the fairgrounds through July 6. The shuttles will run Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays during the fair's four-week run.

Partnership Aims to Reduce Fair Traffic
The shuttle service reflects ongoing efforts by Bay Area transit agencies to coordinate special event transportation, according to BART. Alicia Trost, BART Communications Manager, said the partnership shows how public transit agencies can work together to serve communities. The Alameda County Fair typically draws hundreds of thousands of visitors over its multi-week run each summer. Transit agencies across the country regularly provide special event shuttles to reduce traffic congestion and parking challenges at major venues.
Free Service Operates Three Days Weekly
The shuttle service is free to riders and will operate for 24 days during the fair's June 13 through July 6 run. Wheels, operated by the Livermore Amador Valley Transit Authority, will provide the shuttle buses between the BART station and fairgrounds. Michael Tree, Executive Director of Wheels, oversees the transit authority's operations. Officials didn't release specific details about shuttle frequency or the number of vehicles that'll be deployed for the service.
Service Runs Through Early July
The partnership between BART and Wheels follows established practices among major transit systems that provide special event service for fairs, concerts, and sporting events. Robert Powers, BART General Manager, leads the agency that serves five Bay Area counties. Specific shuttle departure times and operating hours weren't available by publication time, though officials said detailed schedules would be released closer to the service start date.
Riders Can Plan Fair Trips via Transit
Fair-goers traveling from throughout the Bay Area can connect to the shuttle service via BART's extensive rail network. The Dublin/Pleasanton station serves as the shuttle pickup point, providing access for riders from San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose, and other regional destinations. Officials said the service aims to make fair attendance easier while reducing parking demand at the fairgrounds. Moovit provides real-time updates for BART routes and connections to help riders plan their trips to the fair.
