BART Adds Fair Shuttle from Dublin Station

BART riders can catch free shuttles to the Alameda County Fair starting Friday, transit officials said. The service runs from Dublin/Pleasanton BART station to the fairgrounds in Pleasanton through July 6, with buses departing every 20 minutes during fair hours. Riders need a valid BART ticket to board the shuttle at no additional cost. Alicia Trost, BART Communications Manager, said the partnership with Wheels provides a convenient, sustainable transportation option for fairgoers.

Partnership Reduces Fair Parking Demand

The shuttle service represents a recurring collaboration between BART and the Livermore Amador Valley Transit Authority, which operates Wheels buses. Transit agencies typically offer special event shuttles to reduce parking congestion and vehicle emissions at major venues. The arrangement aligns with California's sustainable transportation initiatives by encouraging public transit use for community events. Officials didn't disclose the cost of providing the shuttle service or how many buses will operate the route.

Service Matches Fair Operating Hours

Shuttles will run during all fair operating hours, which vary throughout the event period. The fair opens Fridays from 4-11 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 11 p.m. From June 30 through July 3, the fair operates daily from noon to 11 p.m. The 20-minute frequency means riders won't face long waits between buses. Ridership projections for the shuttle service weren't available, and officials haven't released historical data from previous years' fair shuttles.

Service Begins This Friday

The shuttle service launches June 13, coinciding with the fair's opening day, and continues through the fair's final day on July 6. BART announced the service June 9, giving riders several days' notice before implementation. The Dublin/Pleasanton station serves as the sole BART connection point for the shuttle. Officials said the service provides access for visitors traveling from throughout the Bay Area's BART network.

Free Rides Require BART Ticket

Fairgoers must show a valid BART ticket to ride the shuttle at no charge, meaning riders need to pay BART fare to reach Dublin/Pleasanton station before boarding. The requirement ensures the free shuttle serves transit riders rather than functioning as a general parking lot shuttle. Riders can check real-time shuttle arrival information and plan their trips using Moovit, which provides updates for BART routes and connecting services throughout the Bay Area. Officials said the shuttle eliminates parking concerns for families attending the fair.
