SEPTA Route 7 detours around Point Breeze April 16 for market festival from 5:45 am to 9 pm
SEPTA Reroutes Route 7 for Point Breeze Festival
SEPTA's Route 7 will detour around Point Breeze on April 16 as Philadelphia hosts the Point Breeze Market Festival, transit officials said. The detour runs from 5:45 am to 9 pm, with Point Breeze Avenue and 21st Street closed from Wharton to Reed Streets. The event's part of the city's Ring it On! One Philly: A United Celebration, featuring local vendors, music, and activities for all ages.
Street Closures Impact Bus Service
The festival requires street closures that'll affect SEPTA bus operations throughout the day, according to the transit agency. Point Breeze Avenue and 21st Street will be closed between Wharton and Reed Streets until 9 pm to accommodate the community celebration. The closures are necessary to create a safe pedestrian environment for festival attendees, officials said. Transit agencies typically coordinate with city event planners weeks in advance to minimize service disruptions while supporting community events.

Alternative Routes Available
Route 7 will operate on a detour for the full duration of the festival, from early morning through evening service, transit officials said. Bus Route 17 offers nearby stops for riders traveling to the event area. Ellsworth-Federal Station on the Broad Street Line is about a 15-minute walk from the festival location at 1300 Point Breeze Ave. PATCO riders from New Jersey can connect to the Broad Street Line at 12th/13th & Locust Street Station for access to the event.

Service Resumes After 9 PM
Normal Route 7 service will resume after 9 pm Thursday evening once street closures are lifted, according to SEPTA. The agency didn't specify whether additional buses would be deployed to handle increased ridership from festival attendees. Transit officials said riders should plan for extra travel time during the detour period and consider using alternative routes to reach destinations along the affected corridor.
Payment and Trip Planning Options
Riders can pay fares using contactless payments, SEPTA Key cards, cash, or Quick Trip tickets, officials said. Parking's available at SEPTA lots and garages through the SEPTA Park app, with overnight parking permitted at most Regional Rail stations. Moovit provides real-time service updates and alternative route suggestions for SEPTA riders navigating the temporary detour.
