Paris RER Opens Delay Refund Program for Riders
Paris transit launches refund program for RER B, C, D riders after punctuality fell below 80%
Paris RER B, C, D Riders Can Claim Delay Refunds
Riders who endured chronic delays on five Paris-area RER branches in 2025 can now apply for compensation through a refund program launched by Île-de-France Mobilités. The application platform opened Wednesday, March 11, allowing eligible Navigo pass holders to claim reimbursements for service that fell below punctuality standards. Five railway branches qualified after their on-time performance remained below 80% for much of last year, affecting thousands of daily commuters on RER Lines B, C, and D.

Punctuality Standards and Affected Routes
The compensation program targets branches where service reliability fell significantly short of regional transit standards. Affected routes include the Aulnay-sous-Bois to Mitry-Claye and Aulnay-sous-Bois to CDG2 lines on RER B, the Dourdan to La Norville line on RER C, and two RER D branches running from Creil to Goussainville and Vigneux-sur-Seine to Corbeil-Essonnes. Transit agencies in the Paris region typically aim for punctuality rates above 90%, making the sub-80% performance particularly notable. Officials didn't specify what caused the extended service problems on these specific branches.
Eligibility Requirements and Compensation Structure
Only holders of certain Navigo subscriptions qualify for refunds, including Annual Navigo, Senior, Imagine R Student and School passes, Monthly Navigo, and reduced-price passes. Single-journey tickets aren't eligible for the program. The compensation amount varies based on subscription type and how many months each line remained below the 80% punctuality threshold, though officials haven't released specific reimbursement amounts. Île-de-France Mobilités said the calculation accounts for the severity and duration of service disruptions experienced by regular commuters.

Application Process Now Open
Eligible riders can submit refund requests through their Navigo accounts on the Île-de-France Mobilités platform starting this week. The agency said affected users should log in with their existing Navigo credentials to access the reimbursement application. Officials didn't provide a deadline for submitting claims or indicate how long processing will take once applications are received.
What Riders Need to Know
Commuters who regularly used the affected branches during 2025 should check their eligibility and submit applications promptly, particularly those holding annual or monthly passes. The refund program represents one of the region's most significant service compensation initiatives in recent years. Riders can track real-time service updates and plan alternative routes using Moovit, which provides current information for all Paris-area transit lines including RER services.
