OCTA Serves Anaheim After ATN Ends March 31

Anaheim transit riders will continue to have bus service after the Anaheim Transportation Network shuts down March 31, with OCTA already serving approximately 75% of ATN's routes. The Orange County Transportation Authority confirmed remaining ATN routes are within walking distance of existing OC Bus stops. Nearly half of all OCTA bus routes travel through Anaheim, making it the second-highest transit ridership location in Orange County after Santa Ana.

Major Transit Hub Maintains Extensive Coverage

Anaheim functions as a major hub in OCTA's countywide system, with extensive north-south and east-west route coverage throughout the city. The transit network connects Anaheim residents to employment centers, shopping districts, and regional destinations across Orange County. OCTA operates both local and rapid bus service through Anaheim's key corridors, providing frequent connections during peak travel times. Officials said the existing service ensures continued mobility for residents, visitors, and employees after ATN's closure.

Route 43 Anchors North-South Service

Route 43 operates as the primary north-south local service between Fullerton and Costa Mesa, running daily from approximately 4 a.m. to 1:45 a.m. with service every 20 minutes during peak hours. OC Bus Rapid Route 543 provides limited-stop service along Harbor Boulevard on weekdays from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m., operating approximately every 20 minutes. Additional routes include Route 53 serving Main Street between ARTIC, Orange and Santa Ana, and Route 57 along State College Boulevard. East-west travel is supported by Route 50 along Katella Avenue and Route 46 along Ball Road and Taft Avenue.

Service Continues Without Interruption

The transition from ATN to OCTA-only service will occur seamlessly on March 31, with no gap in transit availability for Anaheim riders. OCTA's existing routes already provide comprehensive coverage of areas previously served by ATN, according to transit officials. The authority operates its Anaheim routes seven days a week with extended hours to accommodate various travel needs. Officials said riders currently using ATN can identify alternative OCTA routes serving their destinations.

Affordable Fares With Youth Riding Free

The cost to ride any regular OC Bus route is $2 per trip, with a daily fare cap of $5, and youth ages 18 and under ride free. OCTA offers the Wave fare payment system allowing customers to tap and pay using cards, mobile apps, or contactless payment methods. Riders can plan trips and track buses in real time through Moovit, which provides live arrival information and service alerts for all OCTA routes serving Anaheim.
