NYC Subway Maintenance Affects Seven Lines This Weekend
Seven NYC subway lines face full or partial suspension April 10-13 for track work
NYC Subway Suspends 7 Lines April 10-13
New York City subway riders face major service disruptions the weekend of April 10-13, 2026, with seven lines either fully or partially suspended, the MTA announced. The changes affect routes across Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens, with the F train completely shut down and six other lines running limited service. Track replacement, structural maintenance, electrical work, and station improvements are driving the weekend work, transit officials said.

Multiple Lines Affected by Maintenance Work
The service modifications represent one of the most extensive weekend disruption packages in recent months, according to the transit agency. Weekend maintenance windows allow crews to complete critical infrastructure work that can't be done during weekday rush hours when ridership is highest. The MTA typically schedules major track and station projects during weekends to minimize impact on commuters, though the scope of this weekend's work affects multiple corridors simultaneously. Officials said the work is necessary to maintain system reliability and improve aging infrastructure.
Service Changes Span Manhattan to Far Rockaway
The 4 and 5 trains won't run between Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall and Brooklyn, while the 2 train is suspended between Grand Central-42 St and Bowling Green. The A train won't operate between Broad Channel and Far Rockaway-Mott Av, and the F train is completely suspended, with E trains running on the F line to and from Euclid Av and N trains replacing F service to and from Coney Island-Stillwell Av. The J train won't run between Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer and Crescent St, and the Q train is suspended between Prospect Park and Coney Island-Stillwell Av. Free shuttle buses will operate on affected routes, the MTA said.

Airport Access and LIRR Changes
Travelers heading to JFK Airport should note that trains won't stop at Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av-JFK Airport and should use alternative routes via Howard Beach or other lines, officials said. On the Long Island Rail Road, eastbound trains won't stop at Forest Hills, Kew Gardens, or Woodside from Saturday night through early Monday morning due to accessibility work. Passengers can use their LIRR tickets to access the subway at no additional cost at designated stations during the disruptions.
Riders Should Plan Extra Travel Time
The extensive service changes mean riders should expect longer travel times and plan alternative routes for weekend trips, transit officials said. Shuttle buses will make all local stops on affected routes, though bus travel typically takes longer than train service. The service changes take effect Friday night and continue through early Monday morning, April 13.
