NYC PATH Adapts Platforms for Station Upgrades
PATH reassigns platforms at Newark and Harrison stations for construction work starting Dec 29
PATH Alters Platforms at Newark, Harrison Stops
PATH riders using Newark and Harrison stations face platform changes that'll affect their daily commutes. The Port Authority implemented the modifications on December 29, 2024, to accommodate ongoing construction work at both stations. Officials haven't said how many of PATH's daily riders will be affected by the changes.

Construction Drives Platform Reassignments
The platform changes are being implemented to facilitate ongoing construction work at the stations, according to the Port Authority. Newark service now operates from Platform B next to Track 1 and Platform C next to Track 2, while Harrison station service has been modified to run from the World Trade Center-bound track. Officials didn't provide details about the specific construction project or its scope. Transit agencies typically make such operational adjustments when infrastructure work requires temporary changes to normal boarding patterns.
Service Operating on Modified Track Configuration
At Newark, trains now use Platform B and Platform C instead of their typical boarding locations, transit officials said. Harrison station passengers must board from the World Trade Center-bound track during the construction period. The Port Authority hasn't announced when normal platform operations will resume or provided a timeline for the construction project's completion. Clarelle DeGraffe, General Manager of PATH, oversees the system's operations during the service modifications.

Changes Already in Effect for Commuters
The platform modifications took effect December 29, 2024, and remain in place as construction continues. Officials haven't provided a specific date for when the work will be completed and normal platform assignments will resume. The Port Authority announced the changes through its social media channels rather than a formal press release.
Riders Advised to Check Platform Signs
Passengers should allow extra time for their journeys and pay close attention to platform signage to ensure they board from the correct location, officials said. The changes affect two of PATH's 13 stations on the rapid transit system that connects New Jersey communities to Manhattan. Moovit provides real-time platform and service information for PATH routes to help riders navigate the temporary changes.
