MTA Sets April Board Meetings With Public Input

New York transit riders will have opportunities to address MTA leadership during upcoming board meetings scheduled for late April. The Metropolitan Transportation Authority announced Monday, April 27 and Wednesday, April 29, 2026, as dates for committee and full board sessions at its 2 Broadway headquarters. All meetings will be livestreamed, and the public can register to speak on transit issues affecting the nation's largest transportation network.

Multiple Committees to Convene

The April 27 committee meetings will cover seven key areas of MTA operations, transit officials said. Board committee chairs will lead sessions on Bridges and Tunnels, New York City Transit, Long Island Rail Road, Metro-North Railroad, Capital Program, Finance, and Safety throughout the day starting at 9:00 a.m. The full MTA Board will convene two days later on April 29 at 9:00 a.m. These regular meetings allow board members to review operational updates, approve contracts, and address policy matters affecting the region's buses, subways, and commuter rails.

Public Comment Rules Outlined

Speakers must register either online or in person at 2 Broadway and will receive up to two minutes each to address board members, according to the transit agency. Committee meetings will allocate 30 minutes for public comment, while the full board meeting will provide 60 minutes. Additional speakers who can't be accommodated within scheduled time will have the opportunity to submit video comments that'll be sent to board members and posted online. All remarks must relate to action items or subjects identified in meeting materials, officials said.

Meetings Open to In-Person and Remote Viewers

The MTA will livestream all sessions for public viewing, allowing riders who can't attend in person to follow proceedings remotely. Members of the public attending these meetings are required to adhere to the MTA's Code of Conduct, transit officials said. The agency didn't specify whether remote viewers will have opportunities to submit live comments during the livestream or if video submissions are the only option for those not attending in person.

Riders Can Track MTA Service Changes

The April meetings may address service adjustments, capital projects, and budget matters affecting millions of daily riders across New York City and the surrounding region. Transit officials said meeting agendas and materials will be available before the sessions, though they didn't specify an exact timeline for when those documents will be posted.
