NJ Transit Adds Polar Express Ride Dec. 6
NJ Transit's River LINE will transform into the Polar Express on December 6, 2025, bringing the beloved holiday story to life for families in the region. The third annual event departs at 10 AM from Walter Rand Transportation Center in Camden, with $25 tickets benefiting Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern New Jersey. Kevin S. Corbett, President and Chief Executive Officer of NJ Transit, said the partnership brings magic to families while supporting an organization that helps those facing challenging times.

Partnership Supports Families in Need
The collaboration between NJ Transit and Ronald McDonald House Charities has become a cherished holiday tradition since launching in 2023. Ronald McDonald House provides housing and support for families with children receiving medical treatment, allowing them to stay close to their loved ones during difficult times. Kathy McHugh, President and CEO of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern New Jersey, said the event's grown into a beloved regional tradition. Officials didn't specify how much previous events raised or this year's fundraising goal.
Immersive Holiday Experience Planned
Passengers will enjoy readings from The Polar Express book, hot chocolate and cookies, and holiday music during the ride. Santa and Mrs. Claus will make appearances throughout the journey. The River LINE operates along a 34-mile route with 20 stations connecting Camden and Trenton, though officials haven't said which specific portion of the line the Polar Express will travel. Tickets are $25 per person, but details about where to purchase them or how many are available weren't provided in the announcement.

Event Scheduled for Early December
The Polar Express ride takes place December 6, 2025, with a 10 AM departure from Walter Rand Transportation Center in Camden. NJ Transit announced the event Tuesday, giving families about two weeks to plan. Officials said they'll release additional details closer to the event date, though a specific timeline for when ticket purchasing information will be available wasn't provided.
Families Can Plan Holiday Outing
The event offers families a unique way to celebrate the season while supporting a charitable cause. Officials said the ride recreates the magic of the classic holiday story with an immersive experience.
