Miami Transit Starts Early for Marathon Access
Miami Metrorail begins service at 4 a.m. Sunday for Life Time Marathon with free parking
Miami Metrorail Starts at 4 a.m. for Marathon
Miami-Dade Transit will start Metrorail and Metromover service at 4 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 25, to help runners and spectators reach the Life Time Miami Marathon and Half Marathon. Both services will begin three hours earlier than typical Sunday schedules to accommodate the downtown event. Parking at all Metrorail garages and surface lots will be free throughout the day for transit riders.

Early Service Supports Major Running Event
The service adjustment supports one of South Florida's largest annual running events, which draws thousands of participants and spectators to downtown Miami. Transit agencies typically extend service hours for major sporting events and festivals to reduce traffic congestion and provide convenient access. The early start allows runners to reach the starting area well before race times, while spectators can position themselves along the course. Miami-Dade Transit said the modified schedule ensures adequate transportation capacity during peak arrival hours.
Three Terminal Stations Begin Service at 4 a.m.
Trains will depart from three terminal stations starting at 4 a.m.: Palmetto, Dadeland South, and Miami International Airport. Attendees can ride Metrorail to Government Center Station and transfer to the free Metromover Inner Loop, exiting at College/Bayside station near the race venue. One-way Metrorail fares cost $2.25, while day passes cost $5.65. Metromover remains free to ride throughout the day. Officials said riders can pay using EASY Cards, contactless payments at fare gates, or mobile payment options.
Regular Schedule Resumes Sunday Evening
The early service will continue throughout the morning and afternoon, with regular Sunday schedules resuming after 5 p.m. Transit officials said the extended hours provide transportation for both the marathon start and finish times. Parking garages at Metrorail stations will open at 4 a.m. to match the early train departures. The agency didn't specify exact train frequencies during the early morning hours.

Transit Access Eases Race Day Travel
The early service helps runners avoid downtown parking challenges and road closures associated with the marathon route. Transit officials said the schedule modification provides reliable transportation for participants who need to reach the starting area before dawn.
