Miami Metrorail Extends Hours for Ultra Festival
Miami-Dade Transit will run Metrorail and Metromover trains past midnight during Ultra Music Festival weekend, offering downtown visitors an alternative to driving through major road closures. The transit agency announced extended service until 2 a.m. Saturday and midnight Sunday, March 28-29, as the electronic music festival returns to Bayfront Park for its 26th year. Officials said the extended hours aim to accommodate festivalgoers and other downtown visitors during the three-day event.

Road Closures Prompt Transit Solution
The service extension addresses significant traffic disruptions expected from Thursday evening through Monday morning, with Biscayne Boulevard experiencing major rerouting. Transit officials said parking will be limited and expensive throughout downtown Miami during the festival weekend. The extended rail service also supports visitors attending concurrent events at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts and Maná concerts at the Kaseya Center. Miami-Dade Transit typically ends weekend service around midnight, making the extension a departure from standard schedules.
Service Details and Festival Schedule
The extended Metrorail and Metromover service will operate during Ultra's peak hours, which run 4 p.m. to midnight Friday, noon to midnight Saturday, and noon to 10 p.m. Sunday. Trains will continue running two hours past the festival's Saturday closing time and match Sunday's 10 p.m. end time. Officials didn't specify exact train frequencies during the extended hours or which specific Metrorail lines will maintain full service. The transit agency said riders should expect crowded conditions, particularly after the festival ends each night.

Implementation Runs March 27-29
The extended service takes effect Friday, March 27, and continues through Sunday, March 29, 2026. Transit officials said the schedule aligns with Ultra Music Festival's three-day run at Bayfront Park. The Downtown Development Authority's Safety Walk program will also operate extended hours until 2 a.m. each festival day to assist pedestrians navigating downtown streets.
Transit Officials Urge Rail Use
Officials strongly recommended public transportation over driving, citing road closures and parking constraints throughout downtown Miami. Rideshare users were advised to set pickup points several blocks from Bayfront Park to avoid congestion near the festival entrance. The Ultra Community Hotline at 786-767-7272 will remain available through April 8 for questions about transportation and event logistics. Moovit provides real-time updates for Miami-Dade Transit routes, helping riders track Metrorail and Metromover arrivals during the extended service hours.
