Miami Closes Roads for Ultra Music Festival

Downtown Miami drivers face major detours this weekend as Ultra Music Festival takes over Bayfront Park from Friday through Sunday, March 27-29. Biscayne Boulevard's seeing significant reroutes, with northbound traffic diverted to southbound lanes at Southeast First Street and southbound traffic blocked entirely from Northeast Sixth Street. Officials said all closures remain in effect until 7 a.m. Monday.

Extended Transit Service Planned

Miami-Dade Transit is extending Metrorail and Metromover hours to help festivalgoers avoid traffic congestion, according to the transit agency. Trains will run until 2 a.m. Saturday and midnight Sunday, well beyond normal operating hours. The extended service comes as officials strongly recommend using public transportation instead of driving to the festival. Transit agencies typically add late-night service for major events that draw large crowds to downtown areas.

Transit Fares and Parking Options

Metrorail fares are $2.25 one-way or $5.65 for a day pass, with parking at Metrorail stations costing $4.50 for the day. Special late-night Tri-Rail and Brightline trains will depart about an hour after each show ends, officials said. Limited parking is available at Miami Parking Authority garages, including the College Station garage with 600 spaces and Knight Center Garage with 800 spaces, both charging a flat rate of at least $30 for all-day parking. For rideshare users, officials recommend setting drop-off and pick-up points several blocks away from the main entrance to avoid congestion.

Festival Schedule and Road Closures

The festival runs from noon to midnight Saturday and noon to 10 p.m. Sunday at Bayfront Park. No southbound traffic is allowed on Biscayne Boulevard from Northeast Sixth Street, with southbound traffic diverted westbound at that intersection. The area will also host other events, including a Maná concert at the Kaseya Center on Saturday at 8 p.m. and performances of Merrily We Roll Along at the Adrienne Arsht Center.

Transit Recommended for Festivalgoers

Officials expect heavy congestion throughout downtown Miami as tens of thousands of festivalgoers converge on Bayfront Park. The combination of road closures, limited parking, and multiple concurrent events makes public transportation the most reliable option for reaching the festival.
