Miami Metrorail Starts at 4 a.m. for Marathon
Miami-Dade Transit will start Metrorail and Metromover service at 4 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 25, for the Life Time Miami Marathon and Half Marathon, transit officials said. The early service helps runners and spectators reach downtown for the race. Parking at all Metrorail garages and surface lots will be free all day for transit riders.

Special Service Supports Major Running Event
The marathon draws thousands of participants and spectators to downtown Miami each year, requiring expanded transit access. Transit officials said the early service ensures runners can arrive on time for the race start. Free parking encourages riders to use rail service instead of driving into areas affected by road closures. The agency typically adjusts schedules for major events that impact downtown traffic patterns and parking availability.
Three Terminal Stations Begin Service Early
Metrorail trains will depart from Palmetto, Dadeland South, and Miami International Airport stations starting at 4 a.m. with varying frequencies, according to the transit agency. Parking facilities at all Metrorail stations will open at 4 a.m. for the free all-day parking. Runners and spectators can take Metrorail to Government Center Station and transfer to the free Metromover Inner Loop, disembarking at College/Bayside station near the race area. Regular Sunday service will resume after 5 p.m., officials said.

Service Returns to Normal Sunday Evening
The special early service operates until regular Sunday schedules resume after 5 p.m., transit officials said. The timing allows the system to support morning race activities while returning to normal operations as the event concludes. Riders can pay fares using EASY Cards, mobile payment apps, contactless payments, or ticket vending machines at stations.
Transit Access Simplifies Race Day Travel
The early service and free parking aim to reduce traffic congestion around the marathon route, officials said. Metromover service remains free to ride and connects Metrorail to the race area. Riders can check Moovit for real-time Metrorail and Metromover schedules and service updates on race day.
