Miami MetroConnect Cuts Zones, Raises Fares
Miami-Dade MetroConnect eliminates two zones, ends weekend service, raises fares to $3.75
MetroConnect Cuts Zones, Raises Fares Feb. 1
Miami-Dade County's MetroConnect service is cutting service zones and raising fares starting Sunday, February 1st, transit officials said. The on-demand service will no longer operate in the Civic Center and Waterford Business District Zones, and weekend service ends for all remaining zones. The changes also bring new weekday-only hours and a standardized fare structure across the system.

Service Consolidation
The modifications represent a consolidation of MetroConnect's service footprint, which launched as a flexible transit option to complement Miami-Dade's fixed-route bus and rail network. On-demand microtransit services like MetroConnect typically adjust their service areas based on ridership patterns and operational costs. Officials said the changes standardize service hours and fare structure across the system. Riders in affected zones can use multiple Miami-Dade Transit routes, Broward County Transit routes, and City of Miami Trolleys as alternatives, though officials didn't specify which routes provide comparable coverage.
New Fare Structure
The standard fare will be $3.75 per person per trip, payable at booking time through the MetroConnect app. A discounted fare of $1.50 will apply to trips beginning or ending at designated transit terminals connecting with Metrorail, Metrobus, and the South Dade TransitWay. Eligible transit hubs will be displayed in the app during the booking process. Officials didn't release data on how the new fares compare to previous pricing or how many riders currently use the discounted terminal connections.

Weekday-Only Operations
MetroConnect will operate Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. starting February 1st. Weekend service is discontinued for all zones. Officials said passengers can access detailed information about service changes and fares through the FAQ section in the MetroConnect app, though they didn't specify whether any advance notice period was provided to regular weekend riders.
Planning Around Changes
Riders who regularly use MetroConnect in the discontinued zones or on weekends should plan alternative routes before February 1st. Officials encouraged passengers to explore Miami-Dade Transit's fixed-route options for areas no longer served by the on-demand service.
