Miami-Dade Transit Adds Hours for Ultra Fest

Miami-Dade Transit will extend Metrorail and Metromover hours to accommodate the 2026 Ultra Music Festival at Bayfront Park from March 27-29, transit officials said. Both rail systems will run until 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, with service ending at midnight Sunday. The extended hours aim to help festivalgoers avoid downtown parking and traffic congestion during the three-day electronic music event.

Airport Connection Serves Out-of-Town Visitors

The service expansion comes as Miami-Dade Transit works to position rail as the primary transportation option for major downtown events. The Orange Line provides direct service from Miami International Airport to Government Center station, offering out-of-town visitors a car-free route to the festival. Transit agencies nationwide have increasingly extended service hours for large-scale events to reduce traffic impacts and provide alternatives to ride-hailing services. Officials said the goal is to make transit the most convenient option for attendees.

Trains Run Every 15 Minutes on Shared Corridor

Green and Orange Line trains will operate every 30 minutes during the extended hours, creating a combined 15-minute frequency between Earlington Heights and Dadeland South stations where the lines share track. Festivalgoers can reach Bayfront Park via Metromover's Inner Loop or Brickell Loop, with stops at First Street, College/Bayside, and Bayfront Park stations providing direct access to the venue. Parking at Metrorail garages costs $4.50 for the entire day and can be paid through Ticket Vending Machines or the PayByPhone app. Riders can pay fares using EASY Cards, contactless payments, or mobile options.

Bus Detours Begin Thursday Evening

Several Metrobus routes will be detoured starting 9 p.m. Thursday, March 26 through 6 a.m. Monday, March 30 due to street closures around the festival site. Buses serving Omni, Miami Beach, Downtown Miami, and adjacent areas may experience delays during the festival period, officials said. The agency didn't specify which route numbers will be affected or provide detailed detour maps.

Extended Service Targets Festival Crowds

The extended rail hours are designed to serve festivalgoers departing after late-night performances, with the 2 a.m. closing time on Friday and Saturday accommodating the event's typical midnight end time. Officials encouraged attendees to leave cars behind and use transit to avoid parking shortages and traffic delays in the downtown area.
