Program Targets Licensed Operators

The Miami-Dade Department of Transportation and Public Works designed the temporary licensing program to expand transportation capacity during major events, according to the agency. The initiative's available to luxury sedan, stretch and super stretch limousine, and passenger motor carrier operators already licensed by a state or political subdivision. Existing Miami-Dade license holders can also apply to temporarily increase their fleets for the event. Miami-Dade County regulates for-hire limousines countywide under Chapter 31, Article VI of the County Code, requiring all entities providing limousine service to hold a for-hire license and each vehicle to have an operating permit.

Walk-In Applications Accepted

The Passenger Transportation Regulatory Division will accept applications Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Department of Transportation and Public Works office located at 601 NW 1st Court, 18th Floor, Miami. Walk-in applications will be processed with same-day decal issuance available for applications meeting all requirements, officials said.
