DC Metro A58 Bus Detours for Clarendon Event
Riders using WMATA's A58 bus route through Clarendon will need alternate plans late Saturday night. The transit agency announced a temporary detour for route A58 due to the Don't Press Your Luck Event scheduled for March 14, 2025. The detour runs from 9:00 PM Saturday, March 14, until 4:00 AM Sunday, March 15, affecting both eastbound and westbound service on the Wilson Boulevard-Farragut Square route.

Street Closures Drive Service Changes
The detour's necessary because several Clarendon streets will be closed during the event, according to WMATA. Clarendon Boulevard will be closed from N. Highland Street to Washington Boulevard, while Wilson Boulevard will be closed along the same stretch. N. Hudson Street and N. Herndon Street will have partial closures during the seven-hour period. Transit agencies typically implement detours when special events require street closures that block regular bus routes, with advance notice provided to minimize rider confusion.
Eastbound and Westbound Routes Affected
The A58 Wilson Boulevard-Farragut Square route will be affected in both directions, WMATA said. Eastbound buses toward Farragut Square will detour on Wilson Boulevard at Washington Boulevard and resume regular routing on Clarendon Boulevard at N Wayne Street. Westbound buses heading to Seven Corners will detour on Wilson Boulevard at N Barton Street and resume their regular route on Washington Boulevard at 13th Street N. The detours add several blocks to the route but keep buses moving through the area.

Seven-Hour Detour Window Announced
The service changes take effect at 9:00 PM on Saturday, March 14, 2025, and continue until 4:00 AM on Sunday, March 15, WMATA confirmed. The seven-hour window covers the duration of the Don't Press Your Luck Event and associated street closures in Clarendon. Officials said the timing's designed to accommodate the event while limiting impact on weekday commuters and daytime weekend riders.
Riders Can Track Real-Time Changes
Passengers using the A58 during the detour period should expect slightly longer travel times and different stop locations along the affected stretch. WMATA said riders can stay informed about the detour and other service changes through real-time updates. Moovit provides current bus locations and arrival times for WMATA routes, helping riders adjust their plans when detours affect regular service patterns.
