MBTA Adds Event Trains for Brazil-France Match

Soccer fans heading to Gillette Stadium for the Brazil vs. France match on March 26 can skip traffic and take the train instead. The MBTA announced Tuesday it'll run four special event trains between South Station and Foxboro/Gillette Stadium for the international friendly. Round-trip tickets cost $30 and go on sale March 10 at 11 AM exclusively through the mTicket app, officials said.

The special service is part of the MBTA's ongoing efforts to provide transit options for major events at Gillette Stadium, according to the transit agency. Officials said the event trains offer fans an alternative to driving and dealing with stadium parking. The $30 tickets will also be valid for travel across the entire Commuter Rail network on March 26, giving riders flexibility for their travel plans that day. Regular Commuter Rail tickets and passes won't be accepted on these event trains.
Event trains will depart South Station express beginning at 12:45 PM, skipping stops at Back Bay and Dedham Corporate Center. Trains will leave approximately every 15 minutes to accommodate crowds heading to the match. Return trains will begin departing Foxboro Station 30 minutes after the final whistle, also running every 15 minutes on a first-come, first-served basis. Tickets will be sold by boarding groups—Group A and Group B—though officials didn't specify how the boarding group system will work.

Several regular Franklin/Foxboro Line, Fairmount Line, and Providence/Stoughton Line trains will be modified or cancelled on March 26 to accommodate the event service. Officials reminded passengers that Gillette Stadium's bag policy restrictions apply to items brought on the trains, and no personal items may be left on trains during the match. Riders should check stadium bag policies before traveling.
Fans attending the match should purchase their event train tickets early, as capacity is limited to the four scheduled trains. The mTicket app is required for ticket purchases—officials said tickets won't be available through other channels.
