Long Beach Passport Route Adapts for Weekend Event
Long Beach Transit Passport route bypasses Queen Mary Nov 21-22 for Dreamstate event
Long Beach Passport Route Skips Queen Mary Stop
Long Beach Transit's Passport route won't serve the Queen Mary on Friday and Saturday due to a temporary detour, transit officials said. The route will turn around on S. Harbor Scenic Dr instead of continuing to its usual waterfront destination November 21-22. The change affects riders for the entire span of service both days, though officials didn't specify exact start and end times.

Event Prompts Waterfront Service Change
The detour accommodates the Dreamstate 2025 event taking place near the Queen Mary area, according to the transit agency. Long Beach Transit regularly implements temporary route modifications for special events at waterfront venues, officials said. Transit agencies nationwide use similar detours for concerts, festivals and large gatherings, according to the American Public Transportation Association. The Queen Mary area serves as a major tourist attraction and event venue in Long Beach's waterfront district.
Alternative Stop Available for Riders
Passengers can use bus stop #1840 on Queensway Dr. near Hotel Maya as an alternative during the detour, transit officials said. The stop provides access to the waterfront area while the Passport route bypasses its usual Queen Mary terminus. Officials didn't release estimates of how many riders typically use the Queen Mary stop on weekends. The agency said riders should plan trips accordingly and allow extra travel time during the two-day detour period.

Two-Day Detour Runs Through Weekend
The temporary route change takes effect Friday, November 21 and continues through Saturday, November 22, officials confirmed. The detour will remain in place for the full service day both days. Long Beach Transit announced the change in November through a service alert on its website. Officials said the route will return to normal operations after the weekend event concludes.
Riders Encouraged to Check Service Updates
Transit officials encouraged passengers to review the detour details before traveling to the waterfront area this weekend. Riders who regularly use the Queen Mary stop should plan alternative arrangements or use the designated stop near Hotel Maya. Moovit provides real-time updates and alternative route options for Long Beach Transit services. The agency said it posts service alerts for temporary changes related to special events throughout the year.
