Liverpool Buses Reroute After Street Closure
Liverpool bus riders face service changes today after Hanover Street closed unexpectedly in the city center, transit officials said. Multiple routes serving Liverpool One are running on detour, skipping several downtown stops. Officials didn't say when the street will reopen or what caused the closure.

Multiple Routes Affected by Closure
The closure affects services traveling through Liverpool's central business district, according to the transit agency. Routes 75, 82, 86A, and 500 departing from Liverpool One are using Duke Street and Berry Street instead of their normal paths. Transit agencies typically implement emergency diversions when street closures happen without advance notice, rerouting buses to maintain service while avoiding blocked areas. Officials said the changes took effect February 4.
Seven Stops Skipped on Diverted Routes
Buses on the four diverted routes won't stop at Hanover Street, Great Charlotte Street, Elliott Street, Lime Street, or Renshaw Street while the detour remains in place, officials said. Service 79 faces more significant changes, with buses terminating at Brownlow Hill and resuming at Great Charlotte Street, creating a service gap in between. Officials didn't say whether shuttle service or alternative transportation will be provided for riders who normally use stops in the affected area. Inbound services continue operating on normal routes without disruption, according to the transit agency.

Duration of Diversions Remains Unclear
Transit officials said the diversions will remain in place while Hanover Street stays closed but didn't provide a timeline for when normal service will resume. The agency typically restores regular routes once street closures end and it's safe for buses to return to their normal paths. Officials said they'll announce when services return to normal operations.
Riders Should Plan for Delays
Passengers using affected routes should allow extra travel time and check which stops their buses will serve during the diversion period. Riders who normally board at skipped stops will need to walk to alternative stops on Duke Street or Berry Street. Moovit provides real-time bus locations and service alerts for Liverpool routes to help riders navigate the temporary changes.
