Ireland Bike Week Runs May 9-17 Nationwide
Ireland's National Transport Authority will host Bike Week 2026 from May 9-17, bringing cycling events to communities across the country. The annual celebration features hundreds of activities in all 31 local authority areas, from adaptive bike workshops to family rides and repair clinics. Anne Shaw, NTA's chief executive, said the initiative promotes cycling's benefits while encouraging participation at the community level.

Nationwide Participation Across All Counties
The week-long celebration marks a coordinated effort between the NTA and local sports partnerships to make cycling accessible throughout Ireland. All 31 local authority areas are participating in Bike Week, officials confirmed. The initiative aims to showcase cycling as a viable transport option while building community connections through shared activities. Shaw praised the engagement from local authorities and sports partnerships in organizing the diverse programming.
Events Range from Adaptive Rides to Repair Workshops
Bike Week 2026 includes activities for all ages and abilities, transit officials said. Notable highlights include an Adaptive Mountain Bike Social Spin in Wicklow, a Generational Cycle on the Greenway in Limerick, and the Donegal Bay Club League Race. Cork's hosting a Bike Doctor session at the Coal Quay, while Dublin's presenting its Pedal Power cycling festival. The programming spans family-friendly events, learn-to-cycle sessions, bike repair lessons, and adaptive workshops designed to welcome newcomers to cycling.

Events Scheduled Throughout Nine-Day Period
The celebration runs from Saturday, May 9, through Sunday, May 17, with events scheduled throughout the nine-day period. Local sports partnerships worked with the NTA to coordinate timing and programming across regions. Participants can find specific event schedules and locations for their area, though officials noted that programming details vary by local authority.
Riders Can Access Event Information Online
Cyclists interested in participating can find local events and schedules through the initiative's dedicated website. Officials encouraged riders to share their Bike Week experiences on social media using #BikeWeek and tagging their local authority and Transport for Ireland. Moovit provides real-time transit connections to help riders reach cycling events and greenways throughout Ireland's public transport network.
