Fairfax Connector Seeks Rider Input on Service Plan
Fairfax Connector proposes route cuts and schedule changes for June 2026 implementation
Fairfax Connector Seeks Input on June 2026 Changes
Fairfax Connector's asking riders to weigh in on proposed service changes that'll take effect June 27, 2026. The transit agency's seeking public feedback through an online survey and two virtual meetings scheduled for February 24, according to Fairfax County officials. Multiple routes will see modifications including schedule adjustments, service reductions, and two route discontinuations, with public comments accepted through March 1.

Efficiency and Ridership Drive Proposed Updates
The proposed changes aim to better align service levels with ridership demand, improve reliability, and increase overall system efficiency, transit officials said. Transit agencies typically conduct service reviews annually or biannually to ensure resources match actual usage patterns and operational needs. The modifications reflect ongoing efforts to optimize route performance while managing budget constraints. Officials said the adjustments will help maintain sustainable service across the Connector network.
Two Routes Face Elimination, Others See Reductions
Routes 552 and 622 are proposed for discontinuation due to consistently low ridership, though riders will have access to alternative Connector services, officials confirmed. Several other routes will see reduced service hours, with some eliminating weekend or Sunday service entirely. Route 983 will receive increased weekend frequency as part of the changes, representing one of the few service enhancements in the proposal. Officials didn't specify how many total routes will be affected by the modifications or provide detailed ridership figures for routes facing cuts.

Virtual Meetings Set for Late February
Two virtual public meetings are scheduled for Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at 12 p.m. and 7 p.m. to present the proposed changes and gather community feedback. Both meetings will be held via Microsoft Teams and will be recorded and posted online, officials said. Public comments can be submitted online through March 1, 2026, giving residents multiple opportunities to provide input before the June 27 implementation date.
Riders Encouraged to Participate in Feedback Process
Community members are encouraged to attend one of the virtual meetings to learn more and share their input on how the changes might affect their commutes. Officials said rider feedback will be considered as the agency finalizes the service modifications.
