Fairfax Connector Adjusts Routes for Winter Weather
Fairfax Connector reroutes 151, 152, 159, and 703 buses due to winter road conditions
Fairfax Connector Detours 4 Routes for Snow
Fairfax Connector riders on four routes face temporary detours as winter weather affects road conditions, transit officials said. Routes 151, 152, 159, and 703 are operating on modified paths until conditions improve, though the system is maintaining its regular service schedule. Officials said service decisions may change as road conditions require.

Winter Operations Continue Despite Weather
The detours reflect standard winter weather protocols for Northern Virginia transit systems, according to the agency. Fairfax Connector crews handle snow removal at Park and Rides and Transit Centers, but sidewalks and pedestrian pathways adjacent to bus stops are typically the responsibility of adjacent property owners. Neither VDOT nor Fairfax County clears these pedestrian access points. During inclement weather, bus operators will board and alight passengers at the safest location near the bus stop when the designated stop is inaccessible, officials said.
Four Routes Running Modified Paths
Routes 151, 152, 159, and 703 are currently operating on snow detours, transit officials confirmed. The agency didn't specify which stops are being bypassed or how long the detours will remain in effect. Officials said the modifications will continue until road conditions improve sufficiently for buses to return to their regular routes. The agency monitors conditions continuously and adjusts service as needed, according to transit representatives.
Real-Time Updates Available Through Multiple Channels
Passengers can monitor real-time route status and detours through the system's Bus Tracker, though officials said accuracy may be affected during severe weather events. The agency's customer service line operates 5AM-10PM Monday-Friday and 7AM-9PM Saturday-Sunday at 703-339-7200 or TTY 703-339-1608. Officials encouraged riders to follow @fairfaxconnector on social media and sign up for transportation alerts on Fairfax Alerts for the latest updates.

Riders Should Plan for Possible Changes
Passengers on affected routes should allow extra travel time and check for updates before heading to stops, officials said. Service decisions may change as road conditions require throughout the winter weather event. Riders can use Moovit to track real-time bus locations and receive updates on route changes during the detours. Officials said they'll restore normal routing as soon as conditions allow safe operation on regular paths.
