CTA Morgan Station Maintains Service During Work
CTA Morgan Station north entrance closes April 29-30 for scheduled maintenance work
CTA Morgan Station Entrance Closes for Maintenance
Green and Pink Line riders at Morgan Station will need to use alternate entrances starting Wednesday morning. The Chicago Transit Authority announced the north stationhouse entrance will close April 29 at 8 a.m. through April 30 at 4 p.m. for scheduled maintenance work. The closure affects one of two main access points at the station, which serves Chicago's West Loop neighborhood.

Alternative Access Routes Available
The station will remain fully operational during the maintenance period, with riders directed to the south stationhouse entrance on Lake Street. That entrance provides access to both the 54th/Cermak-bound and Harlem-bound platforms for both lines. Passengers can also use the overhead transfer bridge connecting the platforms, which features both stairs and elevators. The CTA didn't specify what maintenance work necessitates the closure or whether similar work is planned for other stations.
Two-Day Closure Affects Peak Hours
The 32-hour closure spans parts of two business days, affecting both morning and evening rush periods on Wednesday and Thursday morning commutes. Officials said the work must be completed during daytime hours rather than overnight, though they didn't explain why. The closure ends at 4 p.m. Thursday, before the evening rush. Morgan Station serves approximately 2,800 riders on an average weekday, according to CTA ridership data, though officials didn't estimate how many typically use the north entrance.

Normal Service Resumes Thursday Afternoon
The north entrance will reopen Thursday at 4 p.m., with normal access patterns resuming immediately. Transit officials said no additional closures are scheduled at Morgan Station following this maintenance period. The CTA advised riders to allow extra time for navigating to the alternate entrance, particularly those unfamiliar with the station layout.
Accessibility Maintained During Work
Passengers with mobility needs can continue accessing all platforms through elevators on the overhead transfer bridge, officials confirmed. The south entrance also provides elevator access from street level. The CTA said riders should plan trips accordingly and check for any schedule changes before traveling.
