CTA Morgan Station Maintains Access During Repairs
CTA Morgan Station north entrance closes April 29-30 for 30-hour maintenance period
CTA Morgan Station Entrance Closes for Maintenance
Green and Pink Line riders at Morgan Station will need to use alternate entrances starting Wednesday morning. The Chicago Transit Authority announced the north stationhouse entrance will close April 29 at 8 a.m. through April 30 at 4 p.m. for scheduled maintenance work. The closure affects access to both the 54th/Cermak-bound and Harlem-bound platforms at the station.

Alternative Access Routes Available
Riders can access all platforms through the stationhouse on the south side of Lake Street during the closure, transit officials said. The station's overhead transfer bridge remains open, connecting platforms via stairs and elevators. The maintenance work is part of the CTA's ongoing infrastructure upkeep program, though officials didn't specify what repairs or improvements the work involves. Station closures for maintenance typically address structural repairs, equipment upgrades, or safety system improvements.

30-Hour Closure Window
The north entrance closure spans 30 hours from Wednesday morning through Thursday afternoon. Officials said riders should use the south stationhouse entrance throughout this period. The overhead transfer bridge provides an alternative route between platforms for passengers who enter through the south entrance. Transit officials didn't say whether the maintenance work could be completed ahead of schedule or if weather conditions might affect the timeline.
Service Resumes Thursday Afternoon
Normal access through the north stationhouse entrance will resume after 4 p.m. Thursday, April 30, officials confirmed. The CTA advised passengers to plan trips accordingly and allow extra time for station access during the closure period. Train service on both the Green and Pink lines will continue operating on regular schedules throughout the maintenance work.
Accessibility Maintained During Work
Passengers with accessibility needs can still reach all platforms using elevators on the overhead transfer bridge, the CTA confirmed. Officials recommend checking for updates before traveling during the closure period. Riders can get real-time service information and alternative route planning through Moovit, which provides updates for CTA services across Chicago.
