CTA Adjusts Lake Shore Route Stops in April
CTA eliminates Stratford stop on three Lake Shore Drive routes starting April 16
CTA Cuts Stop on 3 Lake Shore Routes
Chicago Transit Authority riders on three Lake Shore Drive bus routes will need to use different stops starting next month. The CTA confirmed it'll eliminate the Inner Lake Shore Drive/Stratford stop in both directions for routes #135, #146, and #151 beginning April 16. The change affects the Clarendon/LaSalle Express, Inner Lake Shore/Michigan Express, and Sheridan routes along the lakefront corridor.
Alternative Stops Available Nearby
The stop elimination is part of the CTA's ongoing service adjustments along the Inner Lake Shore Drive corridor, transit officials said. Southbound riders who previously used the Stratford stop can board at Inner Lake Shore Drive/Cornelia or Inner Lake Shore Drive/Roscoe instead. Northbound passengers should use Inner Lake Shore Drive/Cornelia or Inner Lake Shore Drive/Hawthorne as alternatives. The CTA hasn't said when or whether the Stratford stop might return to service.

Three Express Routes Affected
The modification impacts three routes that serve the lakefront area. Route #135 Clarendon/LaSalle Express connects North Side neighborhoods to downtown, while route #146 Inner Lake Shore/Michigan Express runs along the lakefront to Michigan Avenue. Route #151 Sheridan provides service along Sheridan Road and Inner Lake Shore Drive. Officials classified the change as a Bus Stop Note rather than a major service modification. The CTA didn't provide ridership data for the affected stop or explain the specific reason for its elimination.
Change Takes Effect Mid-April
The stop elimination takes effect Thursday, April 16, transit officials confirmed. The CTA hasn't announced an end date for the change, listing it as to be determined. Officials advised passengers to plan trips accordingly and allow extra time to reach alternative stops. The agency typically posts service changes several weeks in advance, giving riders time to adjust their routines.

Riders Should Plan for Longer Walks
Passengers who regularly used the Stratford stop may need to walk an additional block or two to reach alternative stops, depending on their destination. Transit officials said riders should factor in extra time for the longer walk, particularly during inclement weather. Moovit provides real-time bus locations and service alerts for all CTA routes, helping riders track when buses will arrive at their new boarding locations.
