Chicago CTA Updates Bus Schedules Systemwide
CTA implements new bus timetables March 29 with minor timing adjustments across routes
CTA Updates Bus Schedules Across Chicago System
Chicago bus riders should check their schedules before heading out Sunday, as the Chicago Transit Authority implements new timetables across all bus routes. The changes take effect March 29, transit officials said. While most routes will maintain the same frequency and span of service, arrival times may shift by a few minutes at individual stops.

Schedule Adjustments Reflect Ridership Patterns
The schedule updates are part of CTA's ongoing efforts to better meet evolving ridership needs and patterns, according to the transit agency. Transit agencies typically review service levels regularly and make adjustments based on demand data, operational efficiency, and resource allocation. Most routes will see minor timing adjustments rather than major service reductions or expansions. The changes affect routes throughout the system, including several that are part of CTA's Frequent Network, which provides high-frequency service on major corridors.
Some Routes See Extended Service Changes
While most routes will experience only minor timing adjustments, some routes will see more extensive changes to hours of service, officials said. The transit agency marked these routes with an asterisk in the official notice but didn't specify which route numbers will have expanded or reduced hours. Additional service changes include expanded weekend and holiday service to lakefront beaches from late March through mid-August. Beach service will operate between approximately 9 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. on weekends and holidays, providing access to Chicago's lakefront during the warmer months.

New Timetables Available Starting Sunday
The new schedules take effect Sunday, March 29, with updated timetable brochures available online, officials said. Customers can call 1-888-YOUR-CTA to request printed copies of the new schedules. Transit officials recommend riders check their specific routes before traveling to account for any timing changes at their regular stops.
Riders Can Track Real-Time Service Changes
The schedule adjustments will affect daily commutes and weekend travel for thousands of Chicago bus riders. Officials said the changes are designed to align service with current ridership patterns while maintaining reliable coverage across the system. Moovit provides real-time bus arrival information and trip planning for CTA routes, helping riders adjust to the new schedules and plan their journeys across Chicago's transit network.
