Bus Éireann Takes Over Limerick Route 310

Limerick's Route 310 will get a new operator and electric buses starting April 20, 2026. The National Transport Authority announced Bus Éireann will take over the service from Dublin Coach, operating seven days a week with departures every 30 minutes. The route will be realigned to serve the recently completed Bloodmill Road extension, improving access to residential and employment areas.

Operator Change Maintains Service Continuity

The transition represents a shift in contracted operators while maintaining the route's role in Limerick's Transport for Ireland network. Bus Éireann's takeover of Route 310 continues the service Dublin Coach previously provided, ensuring passengers retain access to this public transport link. The operator change comes as part of the NTA's ongoing management of contracted bus services across Ireland, where routes are periodically rebid and reassigned to different operators based on contract terms and service requirements.

Electric Fleet and Enhanced Route Details

The service will operate with a new fleet of fully electric buses, providing quieter rides while supporting emission reduction targets. Adult cash fare is €1.90, or €1.35 with TFI Leap Card. Young adults and students aged 19-25 pay €0.65 with Leap Card, while child fare is €0.90 cash or €0.65 with Leap. The route's realignment to serve Bloodmill Road extension adds connectivity to key areas that weren't previously accessible on the line.

Service Begins April 20

Bus Éireann will begin operating Route 310 on Monday, April 20, 2026. The transition includes the introduction of cash payment as an additional option alongside existing Leap Card and free travel pass acceptance. The seven-day-a-week schedule with 30-minute frequencies will include early morning and evening services, maintaining the route's current service span.
