BCT Renames Mobile App to RideBCT

Broward County Transit riders can now plan trips, track buses in real time, and pay fares through a single mobile app. The agency rebranded its BCT Mobile Ticketing App to RideBCT, consolidating features that previously required multiple platforms, transit officials said. The updated app integrates Google-powered trip planning with Apple Pay and Google Pay support for contactless fare payment.

Consolidation Simplifies Rider Experience

The rebranding reflects a broader trend among transit agencies to streamline digital services as riders increasingly rely on smartphones for travel information. By combining trip planning, real-time tracking, and mobile ticketing in one platform, BCT aims to reduce the friction of managing separate apps for different functions. The agency said the consolidation makes public transit more accessible to riders who prefer integrated digital tools. Transit systems nationwide have moved toward unified mobile platforms over the past five years as smartphone adoption has reached near-universal levels among transit users.

Real-Time Tracking Expands Across Platforms

BCT buses now provide real-time location information through multiple third-party platforms beyond the RideBCT app. The agency's vehicles appear with live tracking on the regional SoFloGO app, which brings together Broward County Transit, Miami-Dade Transit, Palm Tran, and Tri-Rail into one platform for cross-county trip planning. Officials said the expanded tracking availability gives riders flexibility to use their preferred navigation tools. The MyRide Broward Website and App will retire effective Saturday, February 28, 2026, as the agency transitions riders to newer platforms.

Reduced Fare Registration Now Available

Eligible riders can now register for reduced fare passes through the app, though account creation requires an in-person visit to specific BCT locations. Seniors must bring original proof of age, while Medicare and disability fare applicants need proof of disability. College students require a current college ID, and youth fare applicants need proof of age. Registration is available at Broward Central Terminal, Lauderhill Transit Center, Northeast Transit Center, and Government Center West, though officials didn't specify operating hours for registration services.

Digital Tools Enhance Trip Planning

The RideBCT app's Google integration provides turn-by-turn directions and multimodal trip options for riders connecting to other transit services. Officials said the app eliminates the need to switch between platforms for planning and payment. Riders can sign up for BCT's eNewsletter, Transit Flash, to receive service updates and rider news. Moovit provides real-time BCT bus locations and trip planning for riders who prefer alternative navigation tools.
