The trains will pick up passengers at nine stations across the system, though riders won't be able to board at Embarcadero itself.

Limited Service Designed for Race Access

The special service addresses the timing gap between the race's early start and BART's typical Sunday schedule, which begins around 8am. Transit agencies often provide modified service for major events that draw large crowds to specific locations before regular operating hours. The limited-stop format allows faster travel times to the race starting area near Embarcadero. Officials said the trains will go out of service after dropping riders at the station, preventing return trips on these early runs.

Nine Stations to Serve Race Participants

The special trains will stop at 16th St. Mission, Bay Fair, Daly City, El Cerrito del Norte, Dublin/Pleasanton, MacArthur, Millbrae, Pleasant Hill/City Center, and West Oakland. Trains will be labeled as "Limited Stop to Embarcadero" on platforms and in the BART Trip Planner. Parking is free on Sundays at all stations being served by the special trains, officials said. Each person needs their own payment card or device for fare payment, and all Bay Area transit accepts contactless payment methods including debit and credit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Clipper cards.

Regular Service Resumes Mid-Morning

Regular systemwide BART service starts around 8am on Sunday, May 17, providing options for riders who miss the early trains or need to travel after the race begins. Transfer discounts of up to $2.85 apply automatically when using multiple transit agencies within a two-hour window. Officials said riders can use the BART Trip Planner to map their journey to the race.

What Riders Need to Know

Race participants should plan to arrive at one of the nine participating stations early enough to catch the limited-stop trains before 7am. Passengers can't board trains at Embarcadero Station during the special service period.
