AC Transit Adds Trips to Ease Realign Crowding
AC Transit riders on several East Bay routes will see more frequent service starting February 1 as the agency adjusts its Realign network to address overcrowding. The changes respond to rider and operator feedback collected since the network redesign launched, transit officials said. Key improvements include additional trips on Line 60 connecting CSU East Bay and Hayward BART, plus new hourly service to Skyline High School on Line 31.

Context
The adjustments mark AC Transit's first major modifications to its Realign network since the comprehensive service redesign took effect. Transit agencies typically monitor new route networks for several months before making changes based on ridership patterns and operational performance, officials said. The February 1 changes aim to relieve overcrowding on routes where demand has exceeded initial projections. Officials said the modifications also account for changing traffic conditions that've affected schedule reliability since Realign launched.
Details
Transbay lines F, O, and P will receive additional morning and afternoon trips to relieve overcrowding on commuter routes. Line 73 and express route 653 will also see added service. Line 19 will discontinue service between Fruitvale BART and Seminary Ave at San Leandro St, with that segment transferred to Line 54. All Nighter routes 800, 801, and 802 will have modified service times and route adjustments, though officials didn't specify the exact changes to overnight schedules. Most bus lines will experience schedule changes throughout the day.

Timeline
The service adjustments take effect Sunday, February 1, 2026. The 1T Uptown Oakland northbound Tempo terminal station on Broadway will relocate from the south side to the north side of 19th St between February and June, officials said, though a specific date for that change wasn't provided. Printable timetables are available online and pocket timetables can be found on board buses for local and select Transbay lines.
Impact
Riders on affected routes should check updated schedules before their trips, as most lines will see timing changes throughout the day. Officials said the additional trips on crowded routes should reduce wait times and improve the ability to board during peak periods. Minor schedule changes will affect numerous local and school supplementary service lines.
