A58 Bus Reroutes in Rosslyn for Tunnel Work
A58 buses detour via N Moore Street for Central Place Tower Tunnel construction work
WMATA A58 Bus Reroutes in Rosslyn for Tunnel Work
WMATA's A58 bus route will detour around Rosslyn's Central Place Tower Tunnel for four months starting March 1, 2026. The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority announced the temporary reroute affects eastbound buses traveling from Wilson Boulevard to Farragut Square through July 3. Westbound service toward Seven Corners won't change during the construction period.

Construction Closes Key Rosslyn Tunnel
The Central Place Tower Tunnel closure forces the detour as construction crews work on the facility through early summer. The tunnel typically serves as a key route for eastbound A58 buses traveling between Rosslyn and downtown Washington. Officials said the work requires complete closure of the tunnel to vehicles during the four-month construction window. Transit agencies typically schedule major infrastructure work during periods that minimize rider impact, though some disruption remains unavoidable.
Eastbound Buses Take N Moore Street Route
Eastbound A58 buses will detour onto N Moore Street at Wilson Boulevard, then rejoin their regular route on M Street, NW at 34th Street. The reroute adds distance to the eastbound trip toward Farragut Square, though officials haven't specified how much additional travel time riders should expect. Westbound buses traveling from Farragut Square to Seven Corners will maintain their normal route through the tunnel closure. Officials advised passengers to allow extra time for their trips and consider alternate routes if possible.
Four-Month Detour Runs Through Summer
The detour takes effect Sunday, March 1, 2026, and continues through Friday, July 3, 2026. WMATA updated the service advisory April 20 at 3:40 PM with current detour information. Officials haven't said whether the July 3 end date could shift if construction runs ahead of or behind schedule. The agency typically provides updated timelines as major projects progress.
Riders Can Track A58 Changes
The four-month reroute will affect daily commuters and other regular riders who use the A58 between Rosslyn and downtown Washington. WMATA operates the A58 as part of its regional bus network serving the Washington metropolitan area, which includes rail, bus, and MetroAccess paratransit services. Riders can track real-time A58 bus locations and receive service alerts through Moovit, which provides updated route information during detours and construction projects.
